It’s been three thousand years, but Freedom Planet 2 is finally here and it’s great and I CAN’T EVEN PLAY IT YET BECAUSE MY WINDOWS DESKTOP IS STILL UNUSABLE AND THERE’S NO SWITCH VERSION UNTIL NEXT YEAR AAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
There is, in fact, a track in this game that I find a lot more disturbing than this one, but I’ve chosen not to use it this year for two reasons. 1: it’s connected to the game’s golden/true (?) ending so I’d rather wait. 2: it’s in a similar league as Lethal Gas/Soul Asylum/Artaria I in terms of “what the hell am I listening to” so I’d like to do something a little different. Something with a proper melody this time!
Your mileage may vary with this one. It’s not as disturbing or creepy as other tracks I’ve posted, but I feel it’s got a spooky enough vibe to fit.
In the context of the game, it doesn’t seem to last that long (I may not be able to play the game yet but people uploading videos of it are keeping me alive). The power’s out, and until you turn it back on, this ominous theme plays. When you do get everything up and running again, you’re greeted with this theme (linking because it’s good and more people should listen to this game’s music).
This theme is appropriately empty and eerily quiet, given the context. My favorite part is probably the piano, because I am nothing if not predictable and always sure to go for eerie piano notes. The general tone of both this track and the one that follows when the lights are back on gives the impression of a final confrontation that isn’t actually coming (there’s still a lot of video game ahead).
10/10 would get lured into a trap by this.
